The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant House Manager to join a professional household team supporting a warm and welcoming HNW family based in New York City.
This is the perfect role for someone looking to transition from luxury yachting or high-end hospitality into a long-term private household career. Working alongside an experienced House Manager, you'll become an integral part of the household, with genuine opportunities for progression into a senior management position over time.
About the Role
This is a varied, hands-on position where no two days are the same. Whilst you'll support the House Manager, you will be expected to still jump in and help alongside the team every day. Whether it's housekeeping, silver polishing, service, inventories, laundry coordination, organising a last-minute dinner or running errands for the principals, you'll be someone who is happy to roll up your sleeves and get involved wherever needed.
You'll act as the House Manager's right-hand person, helping ensure the household runs seamlessly while maintaining the exceptionally high standards expected within a luxury private residence.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the House Manager with the day-to-day running of the residence
- Assisting with the supervision and coordination of the household team
- Working alongside the team to maintain exceptional housekeeping standards throughout the property
- Carrying out hands-on housekeeping duties, including detailing, polishing and presentation of the home
- Assisting with formal and informal food and beverage service
- Coordinating laundry operations and ensuring everything runs efficiently
- Managing household inventories and placing orders for supplies
- Assisting with entertaining, table settings and last-minute events
- Running errands and shopping for the principals when required
- Supporting with administrative household tasks and organisation
- Acting as a key link between the House Manager and the wider household team
- Ensuring the property is always presented to an impeccable standard
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience within luxury yachting, private households or five-star hospitality
- Excellent organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Experience managing inventories and household ordering
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to help wherever needed
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with both principals and household staff
- The ability to remain calm, adaptable and solution-focused
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and desire to build a long-term career in private service

Working Pattern
When the principals are not in residence, the role generally follows a five-day working week with daytime hours.
When the family are in residence, flexibility is essential. Longer days, changing priorities and last-minute requests are all part of the role, so the successful candidate will need to be adaptable and happy to support the household whenever required.
